  • 2019 Edition: The Next Level Up!

HAPPY NEW YEAR QUEENS! It’s OFFICIALLY 2019!

The theme I’ve decided for this year is, “The Next Level Up!”. What does this mean? It means we’re elevating! We’re leaving what happened in previous years in the past. We’re healing from past hurt and LETTING GO (for real this time). We’re practicing the Law of Attraction (read my previous blog about this if you haven’t already). We’re cutting off all the people and things that don’t help us grow. Lastly, we’re living our best life! “I’m living my best life, I ain’t going back and forth with you…!”

In 2019, we’re not allowing anything or anyone to hold us back from being the best version of ourselves. It’s very important for us to constantly evolve. We should never be the same person we were yesterday. New goals require a new you sometimes, and if I’m being real some blessings haven’t manifested because the new version of you hasn’t happened yet.

For me personally, 2019 is the year I’ve been waiting on FOR YEARS! In May, I’ll be graduating from college with a bachelor’s degree in Entrepreneurship and hopefully beginning cosmetology school in August. This year, I’ll be able to work towards the goals I had for so many years, and not have the excuse of “being in college”. I’ll be a college grad, moving into my first apartment, entering cosmetology school to become a licensed cosmetologist, and going into my 3rd year of business. Now that’s the definition of the next level up!

Last week my aunt asked me what was my theme for 2019, and to be honest I haven’t even thought about it. But one of the things I wanted to start this year, was write down all the things I hoped to see manifest within the next 12 months. The goals I have for myself requires a new version of myself. The old me no longer is available. To get to where I want to be, I have to do things I’ve never done before, think differently, and walk the talk. Writing and mapping out what I want to accomplish allowed me to have tunnel vision to eventually get to where I want to be. This helped me see what I want to do, and what I have to do in order to get there.

I challenge everyone reading this blog post to write down ALL your goals for 2019. Professionally and personally. If you really want to go more in-depth (and you should!), underneath each goal write what actions you plan to do in order to achieve that goal. Throughout the year, you’ll be able to measure and evaluate your progress, and hopefully, by this time next year, you’ll be able to check off at least 75% of the goals you wrote down.

We are Queens. We have Panache and we wear our inner confidence EVERYDAY, ALL DAY. We’re taking everything to the NEXT LEVEL. In 2019, we’re seeing what else is in store for us. We’re chasing our dreams. We’re living our best life and doing it with PANACHE! This year we will feel capable to do and achieve everything that we once doubted ourselves in. Start that business, revamp an existing business, write a book you’re wanting to write, begin dating again, build or rekindle friendships. Do whatever has been holding you back.

Once again, I wish everyone a Happy New Year. I hope this year will be full of prosperity and blessings unto you and your loved ones. And remember to always “Wear Your Inner Confidence” in everything you do.

  • Overpowering Fear

Have you ever felt like there was something greater out there for you, but the process it took to get there scared you? Have you ever talked yourself out of something or compared yourself to someone else and felt that you could never be on their level? If you answered yes to any of those questions, you’ve allowed your fear to overpower you and that is something we as Queens DO NOT ALLOW under any circumstances.

There’s a reason I use the term “overpower” instead of “overcome”. The definition of “power” is to “have possession of control or authority” of something or someone. I decided to have authority over fear, where it can no longer have control over me. The word “overcome” means to succeed in dealing with a problem or difficulty, but has the ability to come back. It can be temporary. With “power” no matter how many times it comes back you always have the authority to “overpower” it.

If you’ve read my previous blog posts, you would know that this year has probably been the most challenging years I’ve had in a long time. So much has changed without a warning and being able to process everything that has happened. However, this year pushed me to a level of discomfort that I had no choice but continue to move forward. This year was my time to grow, and while growing I had to experience pain. I had to lose… alot. For months I never understood why everything was happening the way it was, and if anything I just knew I was ready for it to all be over. There were days I felt good, and there were days I felt like that the world was on my shoulders. But through all the adversity I’ve faced this year, I learned to overpower fear because I had no other choice. What I was use to was no longer working, and it was now time to navigate my way through the wilderness and figure out what was next for me. One thing I’ve learned anytime a door closes or something doesn’t work out, it’s because something greater is coming.

One of the first things you have to do to overpower fear is to realize your worth. Fear attacks parts of us that are still developing and can be considered our “not so strong areas”, however you have to look at everything from the bigger picture. You were born with strengths and talents. Some people have more than others, however the hand you were given is just enough for you to achieve greatness.

After you recognize your value, you begin to think and move differently. You no longer allow your limitations to limit you, and the things you start to believe in begin to manifest. What you use to doubt yourself about will no longer be able to keep you in bondage. You’ll see yourself doing and achieving things that just a few months ago you only could think about.  Now that’s what Queens do! Queens have Panache. Queens are confident. We do things that will make others admire us and overcome obstacles that others are still struggling with.

You’re a Queen. Don’t allow fear to overpower you. You overpower it. That’s how you “Wear Your Inner Confidence”.

  • MotivationWednesday: Stop Being So Hard on Yourself

    Goodmorning Queens! Happy Wednesday!

Yesterday was my birthday, and I am beyond blessed to be able to have made it through another year. Of course, yesterday consisted of receiving text messages and phone calls from loved ones and let me tell you… People who I had no idea were watching me so closely let me know they were. I received messages from multiple people expressing how they look up to me, admire my work ethic with being a full-time college student while working a part-time job and running an online business on the side, and loves my spirit and personality. This morning everyone’s comments about myself made me realize that people really do recognize all the hard work I put in and my genuine spirit that I always try to release onto others. Sometimes you need a reminder. Sometimes it’s nice to see yourself from someone else’s point of view. Everyone’s compliments gave me so much gratitude and gave me a little more energy to keep on moving forward.

This month alone has taught me so much about myself. I’ve realized I doubt my own abilities and that cosmetology is really my calling. Since high school, I’ve always been people’s “go-to” person for hair, and I honestly love being able to help others enhance their beauty. I’ve realized that there’s really a lot of people who don’t know about hair and don’t know how to do hair, and people rely on me to be able to help them understand what they don’t know.

Overall today’s blog post was to help you notice that sometimes you have to ease up the pressure on yourself and take time to realize your efforts are making an impact on someone else. Often I get so caught up on what I’m not doing and improvement I need to make that I overlook the enormous amount of progress I’ve already made. But I guess that’s just part of my personality of being a perfectionist and overachiever.

Also, this post was to make you think about what REALLY makes you happy? What do you really enjoy doing? More than likely the answer to your question is what you’re ultimately supposed to be doing. What you enjoy doing the most includes you having much knowledge on that subject and allows you to have the ability to help others.
As you bring the last week of August to a close, remember not to be hard on yourself and reflect on the progress you’ve made recently instead of channeling on areas that still need improvement. You are a work in progress, which means you’ll get there a little at a time. Not all at once.

  • #MotivationMonday: Count your blessings, not your troubles

    Hi Queens! Happy Monday!

Today marks the first day of my senior year in college. We all know that entering your last year of school means you’re beginning to prepare yourself for the next chapter of your life. For myself, this includes moving out of college housing, registering for cosmetology school and finding a new place to call home. Although this may be viewed as a stressful process, this is also a very critical learning experience. In my “Hello August” blog I spoke about getting in a car accident that resulted in my car being totaled and accepting the fact that my life was making some pretty drastic changes in such a short period of time. Yes, it was a lot to take in and process at one time, but this process was also something I needed to encounter to grow for my new season I’ll soon be entering into. If these recent events would’ve taken place after I had already moved out and graduated my reaction might’ve been much worse. Many times valleys in our lives are just trials we are required to pass. These tests are preparing us for a new season. However, some seasons require a new level of growth from us individually. You can think of it as “growing pains.” Technically, growing pains are neuralgic pains children experience while growing up. Applying this concept to life lessons, we have to go through painful periods to continue to develop into the person we are meant to be.

Sometimes when going through a difficult season, you have to think about the bigger picture. Where are you trying to go in life? What could this season be preparing you for? Are you passing your test to receive your next blessing? Everything happens in steps. Our entire lives’ we’ll continuously be climbing a ladder trying to fulfill our dreams and goals. Trust the process. Know that whatever you are going through is just a hands-on classroom activity that the teacher is expecting you to pass so you move on to the next level.

“Count your blessings and not your troubles.” I’m pretty sure you have many more blessings than troubles, and always know that trouble doesn’t last forever.

Stay motivated this week Queens! The best is yet to come!

And most importantly, don’t forget to “Wear Your Inner Confidence” all day, every day!

    With much Love and Confidence,
